About this scent. Aromatic Aquatic fragrance for men. Acqua di Gio was launched in 1996. Acqua di Gio was created by Alberto Morillas, Annick Menardo and Christian Dussoulier. Top notes are Lime, Lemon, Bergamot, Jasmine, Orange, Mandarin Orange and Neroli;; middle notes are Sea Notes, Jasmine, Calone, Rosemary, Peach, Freesia, Hiacynth, Cyclamen, Violet, Coriander, Rose, Nutmeg and Mignonette;; base notes are White Musk, Cedar, Oakmoss, Patchouli and Amber. Why an attar. An attar is a perfume oil with no alcohol in it. Nothing lifts it off the skin, so it does not throw as far as a spray — it sits close and releases slowly, which is why one application stays with you so much longer. The oil also warms with your body, so the deeper base notes come forward more than they would in a spray.
How to wear it. Dab a little on the pulse points — wrists, behind the ears, the base of the throat. Do not rub your wrists together; it crushes the opening notes.
